Dear Moodle Community,
I am planning to realize a new plugin for the easy usage of course templates. Below you can find more details about it. Any comment or feedback is highly welcome!
Main use case
The admin (or other users with enough permissions) creates several template courses (with specific course format, blocks, activities, etc.) and store them at a certain place. When course creators create new courses they can select from the list of template courses and create their new course based on the selected template.
Main goals:
- standardize course layouts among my organization
- save course creators time
- make course creation much more easy
Current Situation in Moodle
Based on my research I understand that moodle has already a course template feature: https://docs.moodle.org/33/en/Adding_a_new_course. Also there exist already a course template plugin https://moodle.org/plugins/local_course_template . The problem with all currently possible methods is, that they are by far too complicated the course creators. The of course templates how I intend it is very intuitive, non-technical and fast. As mentioned above, basically they would select one template from a list of possible templates (best would be with previews) and after they click a button, the course is created.
Best Regards,
Sunny
