Simplify Student Menu Options

Hi there. I'm using Moodle 3.3

I don't want my students to have too many options in their menus. I don't want "Message' or 'Badge' or 'Private Files' 'Discussions' 'Forums' and then when the student select 'badges' I don't want the "My Badges from other Web sites'. I have tried different things, and tried to find the answer in the forum, but I can't get this right.

1. I have tried disabling features if it is shows in Site Adiminstration > Advanced features and turned the "Enable Message System" to OFF. But it still shows?

2. Disable Private Files, Forums, Discussions:
Under Users>Permissions>Define Roles. I have disabled the use of Private Files, Discussions, Forums. But it is not making a difference.

Thank you very much for your help.

If a student is in a course and the teacher has not included any forums (for example) then how does the student still see forums? For the most part, they should only see the provisions provided by the teacher.

If you disable Badges (I have them disabled) then they are completely gone. The teacher could include the badge block if they really wanted but it won't do anything. Disabling private files is discussed here - Private_files I haven't tried it.

Hi Howard,

Thank you for your reply. When a student is logged in, he has all these menu options. Even if it is disabled in the user settings. I didn't include any forums in my courses. But these menu options are still available. I don't want my students to see Forum Posts, Discussion, Messages, or Private Files.

I would like all these options to be disabled and not visible.

What theme is that? Try again with a 'standard' theme (e.g. Boost)

I have a suspicion that these links are being produced by the custom theme you are using.
