Strategy for upgrade from 2.4.1 to new server with 3.3+

Hallo,

I have old data Moodle 2.4.1 (only SQL dump file and moodledata folder).

On new Windows server with clear Moodle 3.3+  (installed from MoodleWindowsInstaller-latest-33.zip) I need old Moodle data use.

How ist optimal strategy for import old data to new Moodle installation?

Hi,

There is a set way to do this. It means that you keep all your Moodledata etc...but change the Moodle files is a set order.

From 2.4 I think you need to change to 2.7

Then from 2.7 to 2.9

The  2.9 to 3.3

Also you need to take into account things like PHP versions as these have changed too.

you can't import a sql dump directly from 2.4.1 to 3.3. you'd have to install the latest 2.4.x, run the upgrade, install 2.7.x, run the upgrade, then install 3.3.x and run the upgrade. You can import course backups but you will lose some data moving that far forward unless you do the necessary upgrades. Please review the upgrade notes for the versions you skip as there are other necessary items you'll need to know for some of the skipped versions.
