This test-install server is a free, public open one. You can use it for as long as you need/want. The terms of use are shown in the chat box when a user joins the session.

Just a few things to keep in mind:

- it is meant to be a testing server not a production server
- it is open, which means anyone can access your sessions at anytime.
- it can be used by everybody which means that there may be cases when the maximum capacity is reached
- its recordings will last only for 14 days
- the administrators could shut it down any time. We don't do that, and we do our best to keep it up and running, but sometimes maintenance interruptions can happen and they not always can be scheduled.

This is why we recommend people to have dedicated servers for production.

JF

But i got the error while installation

Please find my error

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

I was tried manual installation for bbb-config its also failed for dependencies of bbb-playback-presentation

Then i tried bbb-playback-presentation, Its also failed for tomcat7

Then tried tomcat7

please find error log below

Package tomcat7 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or

Hi there,

There is no official packaging for Ubuntu 17.04 and there won't be. You can find multiple references to Ubuntu 16.04 as the only way to get it to work through packaging in the official documentation: http://docs.bigbluebutton.org/install/install.html

--------------------------

We (the core developers) have designed, developed, installed, and tested BigBlueButton 1.1 on Ubuntu: 16.04 64-bit (Xenial Xerus). That’s what we recommend you use. We have not tested BigBlueButton 1.1 on any other version of Ubuntu (or Linux).

Why the focus on Ubuntu 16.04? It’s a choice of quality over quantity. Long ago we concluded that its better for the project to have solid, well-tested, well-documented installation for a specific version of Linux that works really, really well than to try and support may OS and have none of them work well.

Hi there,

My rough guess is that you may have issues either with blocked ports of FreeSWITCH, but for both you will need to do some more diving into Ubuntu itself.
If you execute
bbb-conf --check

You'll have a better idea of what is going on. The documentation is actually pretty good. Did you check there? There are several troubleshooting  tips you may find useful.

As this is not a Moodle issue related I would recommend you to go to the bigbluebutton forums and do a search or ask there. There are tons of posts pointing to similar problems and also hundreds of people (either sysadmins or bbb developers) who can respond to these kind of issues faster.

Hi JF,

This is my output for after run the bbb-conf --check
# Error: Unable to connect to port 1935 (RTMP) on IP
# Warning: You are running BigBlueButton on a server with less than 4G of memory.  Your
# performance may suffer.
# Warning: The API demos are installed and accessible from:
#
#    http://IP/demo/demo1.jsp
#
# These API demos allow anyone to access your server without authentication
# to create/manage meetings and recordings. They are for testing purposes only.
# If you are running a production system, remove them by running:
#
#    sudo apt-get purge bbb-demo

How can i enable port 1935 RTMP

thanks

How does the presenter (teacher) send the meeting link to an attendee (student) after the session has started ? This is standard functionality for most Web conferencing systems.

If you post here, i suppose that you use Moodle to access BigBlueButton.

In this case, the teacher creates a BigBlueButton activity in his course, and the students just have to go to this activity to connect smile

No need to send anything, it's integrated smile

Sure, but the presenter (or the system) is always sending reminders to join meeting that include the meeting link. In fact, the
reminder that BBB sends after the meeting is created doesn't include a link. We do mainly 1 on 1 tutoring. But now I see that one meeting room is created, so they may get used to going there.

Hi Greg,

I am afraid that there is no shared link on BBB. Not in the open source version anyways.

And the Moodle integration doesn't include anything that can be considered as a workaround. Moodle users have to have access to the activity in Moodle for joining the session.

Thanks. I still think it will work. The teacher could send the link to the

Moodle page where the button is to join the meeting.

manikandan Selvaraj,

Our school uses  http://distancelearning.cloud for our dedicated BBB production server.  They provide shared and dedicated BigBlueButton Servers, and have service globally.

They work with Moodle.Cloud, Moodle.School, and all versions of self-hosted Moodle.

A teacher can install a live class session in their course without needing admin rights. There's also permanent recording storage available.
