Can anyone assist with eliminating this error in order to install a new theme plugin?


Install plugins from the Moodle plugins directory

There is a request to install plugin Adaptable (theme_adaptable) version 2016102300 from the Moodle Plugins directory on this site. However, the location /var/www/html/moodle/theme is not writable. You need to give write access for the web server user to the location, then press the continue button to repeat the check.

Hmm, did you have trouble uploading/updating any other plugins through the interface? In any case, it looks like your Moodle host prevents admin users from writing to the server. Or... easier solved: the moodle/theme folder doesn't have write access for your user. Correcting that can be done with ftp-access to the folder and setting the permissions correctly.


If you don't have ftp access to your Moodle server, I guess contacting the hosting company is the only solution.
