User completion when moving to Moodle

User completion when moving to Moodle

Hi,
We have had an old externally hosted LMS where we have a number of courses and about 50 users with varying activity/course completion statuses.

We are now about to move over to an in-house Moodle and I would of course like to have the user statuses the same as in the old system.
Is there a way for an admin to mark specific activities as completed?

I know I can use the course completion settings to mark an entire course as completed, but what about those who are in the middle of taking a course? Will they have to retake every course from the beginning?

If not - can it be updated directly in the db?

Thanks in advance,
Thomas

What is the "old externally hosted LMS"? Is it Moodle?

If it's Moodle then backup your courses on the old site - make sure to select the 'include user data' option. Then take those course backup files (the .mbz files) and restore them into the new inhouse Moodle. That should carry across all your completion data.

Sorry for missing that detail.

No it is not Moodle. It is a closed source built on MS components.
