I would like to create a new quiz from an existing one (as a quick way to add/remove questions without worrying about students already enrolled on the old one). Is there a quick way to do this? Thanks, Robin.

Yes, use the duplicate option in the Edit menu. Or install Sharing Cart plugin..

If you have a Windows server, duplicating a quiz will hang your system, additionally the Sharing Cart will not share Quizzes, everything else works, just not Quizzes.
Also you cannot backup and import, or export without hanging the system.
Sharing Cart should share quizzes. Do you have it enabled in the Sharing Cart settings?
Check your settings at Administration > Site administration > Plugins > Blocks > Sharing Cart. Not everything is enabled by default, so anytime Sharing cart seems not to work with some activity or block, you should see if it is enabled.
This actually depends on the size of the question bank and if you have a lot of shared questions. For a quiz with questions just at the course level, it should work fine. If you have a large question bank, it will take an extremely long time and often timeout.
