Hello all,

I am on Moodle 3.1 and have installed Poodll as I wanted to use the audio submission in assignment. I have been having an issue where when students login from Iphone/Ipad and when they want to submit a recording it only gives them the option to use the camera to create a recording whereas on android it gives me the option to use the built in voice recorder. I did a search online but couldnt seem to find anyone having a similar problem. I would very much appreciate any support on this issue.

Thank you

Shehzad

Surprisingly, this is how it is supposed to work. Mobile Safari does not have an "upload or record audio" feature. When you think about it, there is no "audio gallery" either, though there is a "video" and a "photo" gallery. Since we just use the native "upload or record" dialog, we do not have the audio option.

The solution is to record video, and have PoodLL convert it server side to mp3. So you need to set up ffmpeg on the PoodLL server for that, and explain it to your students. See here:

I know, I know, thats a real pain.

But the good news is that we have a PoodLL iOS app for recording all ready to go, and we are just waiting on Apple to approve it. That will only work with the upcoming PoodLL 3. (which is not free!)

There will be more on that very shortly.

Thanks so much Justin, really appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. Am going to attempt installing the ffmpeg script now, fingers crossed...
