Is there a way that assignment activity sends receipt for students after they submit their work as an email?

Moodle does this using the notification settings in the assignment

I checked the notification is enabled in the front end admin and we tried for some users and in their profile it is enable to send emails.
But still they didn't receive for more than three hours now.
Is there an option for when I will send? I mean after how much time student/teacher will receive the email notification?

How often does the cron job on your server (or the scheduled tasks) run? those dictate when Moodle processes the messages for sending.
