Self enrollment icon is deactivated

Hello,

I'm new to Moodle. I hope someone can help. I'm using Moodle 3.0 and I've activated self enrollment in a few courses. When I log in as a test student I can see the self enrollment icon but it is greyed out. Is there a setting I need to set? Maybe it is that I don't understand the self enrollment process in moodle.

I don't think it is greyed out - it is grey anyway. Is a student able to self enrol or not?

Well, deactivated then. It can't be clicked on. It's not clickable.

They don't click on the icon - they click on the course name.

Here are some useful links if you're new to enrolment:

i read the documents. Sorry, but maybe i missed something. I tried clicking on the course name and i don't see where a student can self enroll.

Sorry for my confusion but i'm having a brain freeze moment it seems.

Ok first of all - I presume you know the difference between self enrolment and self authentication, ie enrolling yourself in to a course and creating an account on the actual Moodle site? (That difference is explained in the two documents I linked to)

Once you have an account on the site, if self enrolment has been enabled for a particular course -here is another more specific document: Self enrolment then when a student clicks the course name of a course that has the self enrolment icon they should be taken to a new screen that looks something like this:

So what do you see?

You have to do this as a student.  As an admin, you just automatically have access.

I think this might be my issue. I tried to make my test student a student but i think it is an admin..

Thank you Ladies. It was that my "student" had admin.

I self authenticated a new test student and i can see the enrollment options with that account.

Sorry for all the confusion but thank you both for your help.

Is there a way that a student can do a course enrollment request, which can be approved and they only get access to the topics in the course if they are approved? Approval might be set to teacher or above roles?
