Thanks for the comment, and pointing out an interesting plugin.
Right now I am not going to add all the features of that, just the one discussed here. However, I think it works to do it a step at a time, and this feature makes sense for all the standard import plugins.
I'll make a tracker issue for it, then think about finding time to do it.
