At the moment, when you import grades into the gradebook, if there are any students in the file, who are not enrolled in the course, then you get a fatal error and it does not import anything.
There are times when this is a good thing. I makes sure the data in the file is imported accurately.
However, at other times it is a pain. We have a diagnostic quiz that it taken by many students before enrolling on a particular course. For students who then go on to enrol in the course, we want to Import their scores. However, it is a pain becuse the exported grades contain many non-enrolled students.
So, what do people think about adding an option to the import process. Something like:
If the import contains users not in the course:
- Stop with an error and do not import anything (current behaviour, would be the default)
- Import the other grades, and display a warning
If no-one objects, I will make a tracker issue, and will code a fix. If anyone can think of a better way to handle this, that would be great. Thanks.
