Programmed Marking Down of Late Quizzes

Programmed Marking Down of Late Quizzes

I've requested this feature in the past but maybe in the wrong Forum.

Many of my students are not successful in my courses because of not being able to take quizzes by the due date.

Even though every quiz is open for a week, many are unable to complete it within the timeframe.

The only way to get get them into the quiz is to configure an exception for them to have access to the quiz/site after the deadline which is too difficult for me to manage among the 7 courses-250 students I teach every semester.

It would be wonderful if MOODLE would contain a feature to set an amount of points to automatically subtract past the closing dates for quizzes.

For example:

Subtract 5 points for each day past the quiz closing date or grace period.

etc...

This would greatly enhance the success in my courses!

Thank you for the opportunity to submit this request.

There is an old feature request for this: MDL-4309.

Tim,

Thank you for your reply.

Does the patch on that older thread create the feature?

I do not know how to implement a patch.

I think it is unlikely that the old patch works. Too much has changed in the quiz code since then.
