Assessors Grade not Calculating Properly

Assessors Grade not Calculating Properly

I have an instructor using the Workshop tool. Students can receive up to 12 points from a peer for their presentation. This student's grade is reported as 10/12, but when you add up the points awarded, they add to 11. In my mind: 6+4+1 = 11, not 10. Any suggestions? I have attached a graphic file.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

I forgot to add that this is not happening to all students, just a few.

Thanks!

Hi Caryl.

It is not calculated like that. Please refer to https://docs.moodle.org/en/Workshop_grading_strategies#Accumulative_grading_strategy for full details.

In this particular case, the actual calculation is (6/6 + 4/4 + 1/2) / 3 * 12 = 10.0

Shortly, in the accumulative grading strategy, it does not matter if the max grade for the aspect is 6, 4 or 2. If you want to make some of them more important, increase their weights.

I agree this may look counter-intuitive at the first sight. But it is the only way how to make it possible to use scales and grades in one assessment form.

Thank you so much David! I would never have figured that out. I will let the instructor know. Have a wonderful day!
