I upgraded from 2.6.11 to 2.9.1 and all my phtos in the quizzes resized. If I restore back to 2.6.11 can I upgraded without this happen, maybe 2.7, 2.8 then 2.9.

No, not a good idea I would think.... at least, not before asking what changed? Why? As I understand it, image sizes are either set or not set. If not set they image goes to the actual pixel size, if set then should be contained within the database or as metadata in the file itself. Don't know which.
In either case, I can't see how the files are changed in size without something being changed manually. I don't think an upgrade would strip out that kind of information.
unless the theme has become "responsive"!
