New Account - No Confirmation page

Hi, I've spent hours going through the documentation trying to figure out what is going on here.  When I try to set up a new account and fill out the form then click the Create My New Account button, I am returned to the same filled out form with no email sent.  

I ran a cron job and received a forum notice so I assume the email is working.  

I have Moodle 2.9 on PHP 5.4.

Scroll through the page carefully, when it is displayed again. Most likely there is an error reported, which stops you from continuing.

Hello,

  Have you created a required user profile field? (Site administration -> Users -> Accounts -> User profile fields).


  If so, and you really need it, it should be displayed on signup page and visible to user.
