After playing a video linked to Moodle from either Vimeo or YouTube, I'm unable to return to course.  I have to close the app and restart to continue.

Also, when using a File resource with a URL link to videos stored on Vimeo, I'm receiving a "There are no files to show." message.

Attached is a screen capture showing the files existing when accessed via browser on laptop/pc in edit mode.

Hello Tim,

I'm trying to reproduce your problems.

After playing a video linked to Moodle from either Vimeo or YouTube, I'm unable to return to course.  I have to close the app and restart to continue.

Where are those links placed? In a section/resource description? I guess the screenshot attached belongs to this problem. I tried to add those links in a section description and it seemed to work fro me.

Can you paste here the HTML code belonging to the screenshot? It is shown using this button: HTML

Also, when using a File resource with a URL link to videos stored on Vimeo, I'm receiving a "There are no files to show." message.

How are you adding those videos? Is it a File resource using a Vimeo repository? Or is it another type of resource (Page, Book, ...)?

Cheers,

Dani

Dan,

Sorry for the tardy reply.  I am on holiday and need more time to find find the error.

I can say that the Folder issue remains in that when I click on the folder, I receive the error msg stating there are no files found.

Here's the html of this issue:

<p>Here are three short examples of varying degrees of unacceptable steering.</p><p><b>Mild Snaking&nbsp;<a href="https://vimeo.com/132834160">https://vimeo.com/132834160</a></b></p><br><p><b>Snaking&nbsp;<a href="https://vimeo.com/132913389">https://vimeo.com/132913389</a></b></p><br><p><b>Severe Snaking&nbsp;<a href="https://vimeo.com/132913388">https://vimeo.com/132913388</a></b><br></p>

Audio files continue to not play.  The file is stored in My Private Files and I linked to it via normal linking options.  Where I need them to play are within the Book resource.

Thanks!

Hello Tim,

thank you for providing us more data. I managed to find a bug in audio files on a book, but it was related to audio files shown as links, not with the HTML5 audio player (embedded in the app).

I tested the HTML code you provided and it seems to be working for me: the videos are opened in an external browser, so I can go back to where I was just closing the browser. In which device and OS are you testing?

If the message "Error downloading module files. Some files may be missing" is shown it means that some links are broken or something and can't be downloaded.

Can you please provide us a test account to be able to test all this stuff in your Moodle? It would be really helpful to fix these issues smile

Cheers,

Dani

Hi Tim,

I am also a core developer of the app and Dani shared the credentials with me to have a look. The problem you are experiencing is due to the way you are using the folder activity. As I can see, you are not using the folder as a folder, but as an editor. The content of the folder is empty (e.g. there are no files in it), but the description of the folder includes those links which are converted in a video.

This description should be displayed in the app, but we're currently facing an issue with it, I raised it in https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MOBILE-1157

I think that the best way for you to work around this problem is to use a Page resource instead. Place the HTML content from your folder into a Page, the app should then display it properly.

I hope this helps.

Thanks!
Fred

Hi Tim,

Regarding the problem not being to return to the course, would you be able to provide some replication steps on https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MOBILE-1141, I am not sure I follow what you mean.

Cheers!

Fred

Fred,

Yes, you are correct in that I am using the folder resource as I like the "idea" of a folder vs. a page.  I had thought that using the folder in this fashion might be the issue.

I can make the temporary work around as you suggest.

The other issue regarding not being able to return to course is a user error.  I notice that the YouTube videos open in their own app which must be closed.  Let's consider this issue "Closed".

Thank you for your efforts and valuable feedback!
