Corruption in Moodle Messages - Error writing to database

Hi,

We have had a small number of instances where Moodle Messages have been corrupted. This originally occurred when we were using Moodle v2.6 and has remained when we recently upgraded to 2.8.7.

When logged in as the teacher, we can see that there are messages that haven't been read, however when we click on the link to open the messaging screen we receive an 'Error writing to database' message. This means that we cannot use Moodle Messaging to interact with these students at all as we can't clear the corrupted message and access the student in the Messaging system.

With debugging turned on (and after purging all caches) we don't see any error message. Our database is MSSQL.

We would like to know where we can find these messages in the database so we can either fix them or remove them.

Has anyone seen this before and found a solution?

Thanks,

Tracey
