Feature Request: Allow students to see other submissions

We would love to be able to allow students to see other's work. While there are other ways of doing this (forum responses, database, wikis etc), none of them are as clean as the assignment module, or allow quick and easy tracking to see who has and has not submitted work (for the teacher). 

In our minds it would be a setting in the assignment settings, have a date enable from and to - which would allow the teacher to set it for access just for one day / period or for a week after the assignment is turned in. Potentially a 'show student names' checkbox as well. Students see a link under their own submission on the assignment page "Show All Assignment Submissions" and get a page similar to the grading page, but without any grading features and potentially without names. 

Anyone else want to see this? Any comments and ideas?

Hi Lael,

If you are able to add Dataform to your installation, you can allow students to see other submissions in another view which will be visible within a given time frame.

I'll take a look. We've used database for this before, but there is no way to easily track who has and has not submitted work. Does dataform allow easy tracking / checking?

Hi Lael,

Tracking the submission of students isn't a challenge with the Dataform activity as you can have multiple views. For example: You can have one view for submission (access can be time restricted) and another view for viewing only without any time restriction. You can also set up a notification rule which will inform you about the submission.

Moodle has a Group Submission feature:

Easy to setup and easy to use smile. All you have to do is to group your students (or even assign whole class into one group), then students can see each other's submissions and teachers can monitor all.

Hi William, 


I've used groups and groupings for group assignments before, but had not considered it for allowing students to see their peer's work. How do you set it up so it is still clear which student submitted which piece of work, and the students can see each other's work?
