Merging users from two Moodle sites

Merging users from two Moodle sites

Hi,

We have two live Moodle sites that have users in courses. We need to merge the users, their authentication and their data. In short, we are retiring one of the sites and moving users and their data to the other site.

What is the best strategy for accomplishing this? We are concerned about authentication and user enrollment/course data.

On both sites we have Moodle 2.8.3+ (Build: 20150225). We are thinking of upgrading to 2.9 before the merge.

Thanks,

Diana

Backup the courses containing their data (with user data) on one site and restore them on the other.

Thanks Howard, what about the user accounts and authentication. Will their accounts be in the data as well?

They certainly will. If you have any non-core enrolment or authentication plugins, make sure they are installed and enabled at both ends.
