Hi Karrie, we used BBFlashback rather than Captivate for these tutorials:
http://learn.humboldt.edu/course/view.php?id=3765&topic=1
(see the 'how to videos').
Personally I found BBFlashback a much better product than RoboDemo(now Captivate), though I haven't tried it since the purchase and rebranding

Love the control panel
Edit: I've just been looking around and had a thought. I this course available as a download? It would be great to use this on my site. It would also be great to use some of this in the moodle features demo perhaps and certainly the documentation wiki.

Michael, Captivate is all another world than RoboDemo. Simply put, RoboDemo was a nightmare, while Captivate is very easy and starightforward to use.
We used Captivate for developing several kind of simulations, also with synched speeches, and it worked very well.
Sorry to hijack a thread, but I notice that in your Control Panel Video there is a link to email students in the course, yet when I install the Control Panel (grabbed latest version today) the link is not there. It is the one that I really wanted - do you know how to add it to the Control Panel?
Hi Simon, install our quickmail block, Control Panel will detect it and load it up.
Also works with Course Program (for setting due dates and hide/show dates from one screen).
These are available in CVS/contrib or here:

That's strange. It was working earlier and now my browser (latest firefox stable on XP) is blocking in.
Thought it was a problem on my site but it's also doing the same on yours. It happened right after I added another week from the control panel.
I shall restart the browser.....
Edit: Strange. A machine reboot hasn't sorted it. It is working fine in IE though. I must have tweaked a firefox setting without knowing.

Hi,
I grabbed the quickmail from the contrib directory, copied the email folder inside to the moodle/blocks directory and the lang/en file to the moodle/lang folder, ran moodleurl/admin/ and it does not show up in the Blocks configuration. ANy clues?

Hi Simon, sorry, did you get block_quickmail_1.5 or the 1.4 version (quickmail)?
Hmmm it appears I got the 1.4 version - got that from the CVS contrib! Which is kind of ironic as I am trying to switch to CVS updates to ensure I get the latest versions easily!
Still all sorted now grabbed the version off your site and it works nicely.
Thanks

Karrie,
I was also thinking about creating some tutorials for moodle. Yes certainly I would like to cooperate with you.

This would be very welcome.
I think I have also seen somebody wanting to do the same in the gen developers forum and also the docs course. I think they used the term viewlets which may help your searching.

Hello Jeff,
very nice demos - cheers.
I'd be happy to collaborate on any other ones, if needed
Nick
Hi Nick,
Tnx.
Still debating if I'll use Captivate or Camtasia, and use voice or text.
I know Robodemo used to allow exporting of the callout text allowing it to be translated.
I must admit that the demos are NOT professional or all that time consuming. I usually just sit down and blast off a few (off the cuff). With moodle evolving and peoples configurations differing not sure it is worth doing complex videos for ALL features.
Thoughts?

Jeff - I thank you profusely for sharing these with us. I have linked to them from my front page and I hope this is okay. One day, when I get the time I hope to be able to do something that I can use to repay all of the people like you who produce such great resources that you are willing to share with us.
Drew,
More than welcome
And feel free to use them.
I'm not a programmer so I cannot help with the technical side of moodle, but don't mind doing what I can as this is a great community to be part of.

These are very good, and most useful. Do you want to make them available for download rather than have everyone link to your website and chew up your bandwidth with our students? Or are you happy for us to lnk to them?
Hi Simon,
Available for download - actually a good idea (will save on my bandwidth).
I'll get things set up and post a link.
Jeff
PS - for now they can be downloaded here.

For all those interested, I have set up a page at
http://www.nccschool.org/moodle
where I will post the videos I have.
Fell free to use the ones you like. All that I would ask in return is that you "save as" and place the files on your sites (save my server as the site is on a hosted account with transfer limits).
Cheers
