A fresh installation of Moodle 2.7 but with having what I had before with Moodle 1.9

Hello;

I have a domain and I installed Moodle 1.9 on it. At that time everything was good till my website was hacked and after that moodle was no longer working though I have all of it's files and databases on my server;

My question is that if I want to have a fresh installation of Moodle 2.7(this is the version that my web-app gallery of my host provider, provides) then Can I introduce the courses/files/databases records of my previous installation to this new installation?

I really appreciate any help here; I don't want to start from scratch and lose what we had.

There are essentially two ways to do this:

1. You can back up your courses on 1.9, install 2.7 and restore them. Doing this loses all the student data and records, but you have a cleaner Moodle with your course material intact.

2. You can upgrade 1.9 > 1.9.19 > 2.2.x > 2.7.x. Doing this preserves your Moodle data, but if you use plugins that are not part of Moodle core, you'll need to research if they are available for Moodle 2.7. Plus, after the 1.9.19 upgrade you should take the time to verify your database schema as doing so can prevent a number of serious upgrade issues. There are some addition recommended steps after each version step-up so please read the upgrade documentation for each version, make sure you have a backup before doing each upgrade and test it beforehand if at all possible.

In other words, version upgrades are really the only way to keep all the data.

The method which sounds most promising is the upgrading. See:
- https://docs.moodle.org/19/en/Upgrading
- https://docs.moodle.org/22/en/Upgrading
- https://docs.moodle.org/27/en/Upgrading

Yes, you can skip 2.0, 2.1, 2.3, etc.

It "sounds" promising but is a rough ride, specially if you have waited so long. A work-around worth trying is the course backup resp. course restore: https://docs.moodle.org/19/en/Course_backup, https://docs.moodle.org/27/en/Course_restore.

Whatever you do, keep a backup!
