  1. I have upgraded my Moodle 2.6.* site to the latest stable 2.6.8 version (in fact a colleague from IP dept upgraded for me.)
  2. I have updated (today, 17 Feb) the Mobile app to the latest version from Google Play - using Adroid 4.04. on Experia phone.

Now I cannot connect from the app - previously set up accounts say token is invaild and kick me out on reconnect.

Tried to add another profile for a different account on the site, but am getting an error about incompatible MySQL text comparisons method - see below.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks,

Przemek

PS1. Experiencing same issues using the iPad app.

PS2 "Comparisons of text column conditions are not allowed. Please use sql_compare_text() in your query." - is the precise alert I receive when trying to add a new connection to a Moodle 2.6.8 site. And I have tried both our test site and the production site.

Added a tracker ticket for this - MOBILE-917.

Hello,

can you send me via private message your site URL? If you can provide me a test user account it will be great

Cheers, Juan

Issue appears related to our local Moodle install. Fix is in progress - thanks Juan!

@Just H - See  MOBILE-917 , where I say what we've tried. Perhaps in your case the restoration of proper field formats in the database table will work? Would be glad to know.

I've just noticed that on that misbehaving site, where we use a mix of manual authentication and LDAP authentication (without SSO, as I understand), we don't have the additional features add-on plugin  (https://moodle.org/plugins/view/local_mobile) installed. I wonder if adding it could help ...

Hi Przemek

Just had a look and our username field is varchar(100) and password varchar(255) so doesn't look like that would be the issue. We don't actually use the mobile app as such, I installed it to test a while back but it was put on the back burner, I was about to look into it again when I hit this issue so for us, not such a big deal.

I'm about to upgrade to the latest 2.8+  so that might sort it out for us but unfortunately, not much help to you I'm afraid. Hope you figure it out soon, good luck.

Regards
H

Hi H, thanks for replying. Well, we'll just try to pursue that, as a few of our users have been using the app. If we fail, we also face an upgrade to 2.8 (or above) during the summer, most probably on a different server, and starting from scratch, so things don't look too dismal in the long run.

Regards,

Przemek

In case anyone reads this, we finally resolved this issue on our latest 2.9.1 upgrade by restoring the password field properties to how they look in a standard Moodle mdl_user table:

Type: varchar(255)

Null : No

Defaut value: <empty>

Most likely, the last two settings were to blame - for some reasons ours had been Null = Yes and Default value = Null.

I think I stand corrected on what I wrote earlier. More likely, these two steps were critical:

  1. Setting the type as varchar(255) for the password field in the mdl_user table
  2. Making sure to Purge all caches from the admin interface.
