In 2.7 the editor changed to the new Atto editor. It was the TinyMCE editor.

Atto is "minimalist" in many ways. So you don't get all the options by default that you had with TinyMCE. You can enable font color and other plugins though. The docs on that and on Atto are here:

If it really is not your cup of tea, you can actually set the default editor for your Moodle back to TinyMCE. There is a setting (somewhere) in :

site administration -> plugins -> text editors
