Okay, the explanation was quite simple, really.
I had to go back to my website server provider and ask them to take a look. Hey, I was desperate!
The helpful techie pointed out that all my files in the login folder were empty. Yesterday, I had experienced ftp problems with my server and had gone to them for help. By this morning the problem was fixed and I finished uploading moodle onto my server. Somehow, though, that particular folder did not transfer properly.
And I thought the solution would be complicated. Phew!
While I was looking for help around here in the forums, I discovered some really interesting discussions about pedagogical uses for moodle. So all was not lost in my frustration for a solution!
Hope to see people in the ped. forums soon!
