Can't add an image on the Front Page content text box

Can't add an image on the Front Page content text box

I am having difficulty adding an image to the Front Page content text box.

When I click on the add image button within either ATTO or Tiny MCE I am asked to supply a URL of the image and not a browse/upload link.

I am using M2.7.2 with Essentials as the theme.

My work around is to add the image in a html block ... then drag the block into the area seen by Admins Only. This provides the html link required by the Front Page content text box.

I have logged a tracker MDL-47192

I have used the work around above but think there could be a better solution.

Hope someone can assist.

Cheers

Mark

Thanks Colin.

Yes , I believe so. There is no "Browse Repositories" button. Please see image below.

I do not have ftp access to our server so looking for an alternative way to add an image.

PS the image on display is linked to a html block in the Admin only area.

OK, I can see what is not happening. My first suspicion would be that you are assigned as a Manager who may or may not have Front Page editing rights. I can't find where the permissions for editing the Front Page are so I cannot replicate the error. I have gone through Admin User and Manager permissions and there is no reference to editing the Front Page. But, if you have gotten this far then perhaps not.

It may also depend on where you have been assigned, as well.

If you are not the Admin User of your Moodle then you had better talk it over with  that person. If your Moodle is hosted with NetSpot, then get in touch with them and discuss it. I know I had to have serious discussions with them to upgrade me from Manager to Admin at the last school I was at.

The only other things I can think of is that the Front Page has been set to show Categories and Courses, and an editable text area, and as your image shows a very different Front Page in edit mode, that the issue lies in the theme itself. But this is very odd so I am only guessing....

Hi both. I think the issue is, as Mark suggests, that it is simply not possible with current permissions to upload an  image to the front page summary box - you talk about content box and I know you are referring to the Essential theme, but I wonder if they are the same thing but with different terminology? I reported it initially years ago in the tracker Mark referred to MDL-25555 and as you say, it was closed from lack of action on it. However, the easy work around is to add a topic section instead.

Thank you Mary, I didn't realise there was an issue with this theme.

So, Mark, best bet, Go to Front Page Settings and start there. Easy fixed...

Thanks Mary and Colin,

Colin ... I am the Admin on the site, and have good access (not limited to my knowledge)

Yes, adding a Topic section is possible... interesting that the Topic has the image capability yet the Content Text box does not.

I liked the position of the Content Text box as it was located above the Marketing spots in the Essentials theme.

Thanks for your advice.

Well, AFAIK, (but I do not know the Essentials theme) the Topic section can be placed first item on a page. It should be moveable in any theme so I  am assuming this theme is the same.

Good luck...
