How did you remove the subscription link?

On the Moodle front page, there is no subscribe or unsubscribe link to the right of "Site news", nor is there one in the forum list, only text that says everyone is subscribed. How did you accomplish that? I can't find any switch in the forum configuration that allows that.

The subscribe/unsubscribe links only appear when you're logged in.

To change the setting from "force subscribe" to "optional subscribing" you just click on that link "Everyone is subscribed" (as a teacher or admin, obvously). Or you can use the setting in the forum config: "Force everyone to be subscribed".
