"Happened on this day" module?

"Happened on this day" module?

Hi,

Is there some module/plugin which could be used for announcing (on the main page) events from past (which I would previously enter) that happened on this day. If not, can somebody suggest the best workaround - by using something else to achieve this functionality?

This would do the trick but unfortunately there is no option to display event from the past (i.e. glossary entry) according to specific date. There is only option to display it in the alphabetical order or random or by last modified or in the order they were entered.

You could always enable RSS feeds on the site and use an RSS block to display afeed from some "on this day" website, e.g. http://www.historyorb.com/today/ or http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday.

My intention is to display only the events I have previously entered, i.e. events which are related to the content of my web site.

You could use the html block to show a twitterfeed in which you tweet about the events you wish to highlight.

Thanks for idea! Although it would be better if I could keep all in one place (in moodle) I will think about your proposal if I don't manage with my original plan.

Thanks! I'm not good in javascript but you gave me an idea to use database activity for entering events, and php script for showing the right event (still have one problem with that - I have described it here)
