except the head word Glossary
all buttons are clicked but none of the entries get linked only the word glossary.
If I change the Glossary to another word eg Accept, then only the entry accept links.
Very strange how do you do.
Anyone got any easy to understand & follow instructions?

That sounds as though you have the Activity Names auto-linking filter switched on, but not the Glossary auto-linking filter. See http://docs.moodle.org/27/en/Filter for more information.

However, it was only part of the problem the other part was that I hadn't allowed the auto linking for the glossary in the filters.
for others who may have a similar problem
go site site admin>plugins>filters>manage filters scroll down and find glossary auto linking and enable.
Only took me hours to find this.
