hi i've set up apache on debian and in my test configuration have virtual hosts working for the purposes of my testing i set up a couple of redirects in hosts on my laptop so moodledomain1.lan and moodledomain2.lan are directed to the ip of the server and the server serves which ever domainname i ask for.
fairly tidy as each domain is setup as a user the users can not mess with other users. sftp is also restricted to a particular domains folders.
i'm not so sure about what to do about making it public facing it could be as simple as redirecting port 80 at the router to the server and then letting the name used decide which site gets served. or it could be more tricky.
the current domain controller is on server2008 and it does eportal thankfully on 8080 any suggestions for the final bit of plumbing to the outside world?
