Students not able to see images in exported quiz questions

Moodle 2.5+

 

A teacher has exported quiz questions (I'm pretty sure by going to the question bank, export into a file). Then imported into his course. Students that are not enrolled in the original course where the questions were copied from are not able to see those images. Students who are enrolled in both, can.

There is also an instance where a teacher backed up an entire course and restored it and the images weren't showing...super weird, right?

Aren't images supposed to come over when you export a quiz or quiz questions? What could have went wrong? What is the best way to export a quiz or questions into another course? Thanks in advance!

images are only included if you export the questions using Moodle XML format. For all other question export formats (including GIFT), you will get broken images .

For backup/restore the situation is different and images are always included with the questions.

But to better understand the problem it would be necessary to know :

- how the images were originally included in the questions (were they embedded into the question using the button of the HTML editor or  using another method)

- also if the questions were created in Moodle 1.9 or older the situation is quite different.

- how the questions were exported

So it's difficult to diagnose the problem without more informations.

To export some questions from a question bank category, I think it's best to use question bank export/import with Moodle XML format

To re-use a quiz in another course, you can backup and restore the activity, but be warned that the file can be quite big if there are a lot of question in the question bank.

Hallo everybody,

We use Moodle 2.5+ as well and have the same problem with courses and quizes. The images are not shown in the copy.
