My site has over 3,500 students and 500 teachers. The students are split into two different users:
- Students (6th form)
- Pupils (year 7 - 11)
Students and Teachers have access to 'My Private Files' but Pupils do not or rather that's what I need to achieve but:
Define roles:
Authenticated user:
System:
- Manage files on own Private files area - Not Set
Activity Feedback
- Create Private Template - Not Set
Repository Private Files
- View user Private files - Not Set
Teacher
System:
- Manage files on own Private files area - Allow
Activity Feedback
- Create Private Template - Not Set
Repository Private Files
- View user Private files - Allow
Student
System:
- Manage files on own Private files area - Allow
Activity Feedback
- Create Private Template - Not Set
Repository Private Files
- View user Private files - Allow
Pupil
System:
- Manage files on own Private files area - Prohibit
Activity Feedback
- Create Private Template - Not Set
Repository Private Files
- View user Private files - Prohibit
The above configuration doesn't let anyone use My Private Files unless you assign each individual the Teacher or student role system wide; that's a lot of individuals to sit and assign one by one through a list of over 4000.
If I change the Authenticated User
System:
- Manage files on own Private files area - Allow
Activity Feedback
- Create Private Template - Not Set
Repository Private Files
- View user Private files - Allow
then everyone has access to My Private files including the pupils usergroup, I have found this with other things as well and I find myself cursing the Authenticated User permissions but they seem to over ride everything.
Can anyone offer any help on this. Please do not ask me to add any script to the programming I do not have server access.
