I have a small problem, the LDAP is 'kept' by county LEA (for those not UK based - these are people incharge of all the schools in area) I I would like to use LDAP to authenticate my moodle users, I realise that this is a bit off topic but is there a way whereby I can remotely copy the LDAP to a different server and have authentication? Has anyone come across this and come up with a solution. I am also considering something like mambo to provide the standard school pages any ideas?????
Sorry - cannot help with LDAP, but we use Mambo for our main 'information' website - www.st-bedes.surrey.sch.uk/info and are generally very pleased with it after looking at many other CMS. It has certainly made it easier to keep up to date. Installation was also straightforward.

Hi,
What you need is to have your Moodle server recognise by the external LDAP server (with certificates for security) and have visitor Acces on some fields of the LDAP.
If not possible. The only way is to ask for an ldiff file from the external LDAP server and then create your LDAP Server from this file. The problems are that: you have to call the administrator team of the externel LDAP and have a regular batch to have regular updates on your LDAP.
You also need to define sort criteres for the ldiff files. In France the other problem should be to inform CNIL (national organisation that survey the use of personal informations) of what you are doing.
Hope it coul'd help.
Cheers,
Romuald.
