Good Afternoon,
I am currently in the process of manaully moving courses from a site running 1.9 to our new Moodle running 2.4.1 by backing courses up in 1.9 and restoring them in 2.4. I have been using this method for a while without problem however I have just tried to do this with another course and the restore failed with the following error mesage "error/unknown_resource_successor" however there is nothing in Moodle Docs about this error.
Please can somebody offer some advice?

Sounds like an add on resource of some type in the 1.9 backup that was used in that course. Moodle 2 doesn't have a 'handler' for it.
Check your moodledata/temp/backup/ folder for files/folders left from Moodle 2 trying to convert the 1.9 backup zip into a Moodle 2 formatted backup .mbz. Might find a clue in there.
Since you have the 1.9 still up, make another backup excluding any add-on resource contained in that course. Then TIA (try it again!).
