I tried searching for this topic before and only found a very old topic from the Moodle 1.7 days: Guest Role vs Guest User
My question, in short, is if there is a correlation between the Guest user and the Guest role?
According to the documentation Guest role, it mentions "Guests ALWAYS have "read-only" access" so to me that seems like the Moodle built-in "Guest user" has some hardcoded capabilities defined that aren't governed by the actual Guest role that you can assign people, is that right?
Is there a difference between someone logged in using the Guest user account versus someone logged assigned the Guest role for a given course?
Or is the "Guest user" using whatever is defined in the "Guest role"?
