ASfter harddisk trouble I resinstalled moodle on a new server. On a fresh installed Fedora Core 3 Linux distribution I kopied the old moodle directories:

  • /var/www/html/moodle (owner apache:apache)
  • /home/moodle/moodledata (owner apache:apache)
and I restored the mysql database :
After creating a moodle database I restored like: (owner mysql:mysql)
  • mysql -u root -p moodle < /mnt/usb/moodlebackup.sql

When trying to access the moodlesite I get the error:

Error: Database connection failed.
It is possible that the database is overloaded or otherwise not running properly.
The site administrator should also check that the database details have been correctly specified in config.php

I did configure the correct dbname, dbpassword and dbuser.

Where can I look for the solution?

Can it have to do with permissions?

Thanks in advance for the help.

My xcalss is without Moodle now, whicj is a shame, so I hope to get everything up and runing soon,

regards,

Martijn
