All the students have enrolled themselves the same way, with a course key for the "Student-role". That's it, no manually added roles or anything.
That's ok. But i just wanna know where you have rechecked it. Please give the details of the above screen shot

The first screen shot is from the Group Tool in the course.
The second screenshot is from viewing the users Profile page and then selecting Roles > This user's role assignments

I've checked there as well, and the students with "multiple roles" are just enrolled as students there as well:
Was there ever any resolution to this issue? I'm experiencing the same issue with groups. We have students who were manually enrolled in a course, then were enrolled via the external database enrollment method. Even after removing the manual enrollment (keeping them enrolled via external database) we still see them as having multiple roles in groups, but when we look at enrolled users or participants they have only the student role.
