Student System Requirements

Hi All

We have Moodle 1.9 and we are having issues where staff are being kicked out of the site, I at first throught it was the lack of flash but a few of the participants now have this and are now having issues.

We are not in the position to download Moodle 2.0 and I have searched but I can not see system requirements for students anywhere, what is the minimum requirements of a PC for logging on to Moodle?

Take Care

Clare

Flash shouldn't be an issue because Moodle doesn't use Flash, so doesn't require Flash to operate.

Just about any internet operable PC shouldn't have trouble logging in to Moodle 1.9.  I had students doing homework on their cell phones in 2007 on Moodle, so the system requirements for the browser aren't hefty.

You might check and see if something's up with your database?  Dropping sessions sounds like something is up with your database server.

Hi Clare

Why do you think it is a performance issue? Does it happen only when the site is under heavy load?

What is exactly "kicked out of the site": do users get logged out or do they get unenrolled from certain courses?

These are the requirements for a Moodle 2.0 Server, http://docs.moodle.org/20/en/Installing_Moodle#Requirements.

The client requiments are generic, you can find them under http://docs.moodle.org/en/Installing_Moodle#Client.

Hi Clare,

Check your default time out session. site admin > server > session handling > Timeout.

The default is something absurd like 25 minutes. We set ours to 2 hours.
