Internal server Error 500 authentification

Hi everybody, I have a problem with my moodle site. In localhost, when informations of authenttification are incorrect, that indicates that the login and\or the password is incorrect so no problem at this level. But when the site is on-line, and when informations of authentification are incorrect, that returns me a page of error 500 (internal error to server). Version is 1.9 and that was installed on Windows server 2008. If somebody has an idea to help me. Thank you

A 500 error doesn't really tell you anything.

Switch on Debugging and - then - check your web server logs. Hopefully, you should see a message revealing the underlying error.

Do you have any external authentication plugins enabled (e.g. LDAP, Database)? If so, are they set up properly?
