I set up a successful quiz, yipee! My students took it. No problem. But a couple students missed it and should get a "0" for the quiz. However, in the gradebook, I only have grades for the students who took the quiz and no grade for the students who did not take the quiz, just a dash "-". So, they are not being penalized for not taking the quiz. How can I assign them a zero as their grade for the quiz? I looked though the documentation and the FAQ but could not see anything referring to this problem. I am using moodle 2.1. Maybe this should be a gradebook question? I've spent some time trying to figure it out, but I'm stumpped at this point. Suggestons would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Looks Itamar covered your question but I thought it worth noting that entering a zero may not matter depending on the aggregation method you have set and if you have it set to aggregate only non-empty grades. With certain aggregation types, an empty-cell is the same as a zero. You don't get the visual of a zero but it has same effect towards grade calculation.
