Can you edit the default settings for a new user profile, in the same way you can set the default course settings for new courses?

We'd like email addresses to be hidden and complete forum digest by default. Currently these settings need to be changed each time.

Hi Louise, I am certain they can be, but where, I have no idea. It will need the default settings changed, obviously, and I suspect this will have to be done programmatically. I suggest that you place this question into the Developer's Forum. You are more likely to get a positive response there.

If you are creating these with a a CSV file simply add the relevant column and the required value when creating or updating the users. Defaults can also be set before completng the upload by selecting etc. from the Defaults options. AFAIK there's no way to set the, ahem, default defaults.
