Back-up/export of course with hotpot - hotpot files lost in transition

Hi

I need to run several copies of my courses. I make copies by making a backup and then a restore into a new course. I'm on moodle 2.0.

The exercise link on the front page gets there allright, and so does the exercise front page. But when I click the "go to exercise"/start button all I get is  Source file not found (or empty): /Leddenes_betydning_mc.jqz.

It seems to be the case for all hotpot files in the course.

Do we need to do something special on our server to include hotpot exercises in the backup?

Best regards

Probably you need to install the HotPot module because it is not included in standard Moodle 2.0. Did you do that already?

If not you can get it from here:

Hi Gordon

I have the hotpot module installed. I use it every day and it works very well.

It's just that the hotpot xml files from the hotpot activities are not copied when I make copies of my courses.

Barfuss, Victor,
I tried backing up and restoring a single HotPot from one Moodle 2 server to another and it worked fine for me - that is to say the HotPot activity was restored along with its "file", and I was able to view the Hot Potatoes exercise after the restore.

The following link is for a simple Moodle 2 backup for one course containing one JCross HotPot activity. Please could you try restoring it on your Moodle 2 site and confirm whether it works for you.

thanks

I have restored correctly now.

I have installed a new Moodle 2.1.1+ and the new hotpot module and everything is ok now.

Thanks a lot.

Great ! - thanks for the speedy feedback Victor approve

Barfuss - could you confirm you have the latest version of the HotPot module and whether the restore of the above "mbu" file work for you.

Gordon

I'm afraid I can't restore the backup file. I get a warning saying that the backup file is made with moodle 2.0 and that I run 2.0.2+, and the import then fails (saying Backup is missing XML file: /var/MoodleData/opeforum/temp/backup/257e7e9820c04595a928b3c961abe9e9/course/enrolments.xml).

I take it that if we upgrade to 2.2 the problem would probably be solved, isn't that right? We'll upgrade hotpot ind the same process.

Best regards and thanks

Hi Barfuss,
I can't say for sure if upgrading will fix the particular issue that you have with restoring HotPots, but it certainly seemed to help Victor. I think you should at least upgrade to the latest stable version of Moodle 2.x.

Please let us know how you get on smile

Gordon
