Legacy course files possible in new installed 2.0?

Legacy course files possible in new installed 2.0?

Hello,

I've been searching and reading for a few days but could not find a solution for the problem. We are using a new installed Moodle 2.0 and want to re-use files across several courses. But as these files will be updated regularly, we don't want to update each and every instance of these files manually. After reading all the posts to this quite common problem, I came to the conclusion to use the "Legacy course file" repository and enabled it within the site administration. But...there is no legacy option available within the courses!

I suppose this is because the legacy option is only available after updating from Moodle 1.9 or below? Or do I have to change any settings somewhere else?

Regards

   Björn

Mary, thanks for your quick response. But that is exactly what I did, but there is no option 'Legacy course files' (Kursdateien) within the course settings. Please find attached some screenshots.

Hi Björn,

at the moment, I think the best way is using an extra repository, like Alfresco. In Moodle 2.x is a connector to join sites/repositories in Alfresco for source documents. With the Moodle option "external links" (active by default) you have what you want, but you need to host Alfresco.

It is planned to integrate a file repository In Moodle 2.2:

http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Files_2.2

If you want to use Alfresco, you have to patch the Moodle connector:
