Hi All,

Moodle 2.0.3, Apache, Windows 2003.

I have quite a few journal activities set up on different course pages but for some odd reason the uploaded images donot display on the journal pages. When I click "Edit settings" for the journal to edit the page content, I can clearly see the picture that I have uploaded but not the actual page:

here is a snapshot:

Perhaps if you could give us the path to the image that might help?

Hi Mary,

The path to the image as viewed from within the html editor of the journal page is: http://   www.xxxxx.com   /   draftfile.php   /   88   /  user/draft/750732895/journalentry.jpg

Please note that I have added spaces to the above web address because, for some reason (I think because moodle.org is using some filters) removing spaces automatically converts the address into a blank image icon while saving this post.

Cheers

I am not sure if I understand the question, but here is the text mode version of the link The properties are shown in this link:

<h1><b><strong> </strong>
<meta charset="utf-8" />
<b><img alt="Image of person writing in a journal." height="206" width="306" src="http://www.xxx.com/draftfile.php/88/user/draft/868925953/journalentry.jpg" /></b></b></h1>
Also something to note here is that under site administrator/server/http, I unchecked "use slash arguments" as thaat seemed to have casued problems with uploading files, however i have checked this for testing and yet no difference in the above.

Thanks - I am not technical but basically what I think is that, when you upload an image its URl is something like

http://www.XXXXXXX.co.uk/draftfile.php/13/user/draft/724950045/thumb_sunflowers.jpg

but once you have saved it and displayed it (in your case with an X) then if you right-click and look at its URL it should have changed to

http://www.XXXXXX.co.uk/pluginfile.php/560/mod_label/intro/thumb_sunflowers.jpg

So basically, if yours is still showing the draftfile link once it has been saved and displayed, then there is a problem. I don't know the resolution but there have been several forum posts and tracker issues on this - I recall one with images in the Lesson module doing similar. Either do a search in the forums/tracker for draftfile.php or else maybe someone with experience of journal 2 will come along with other suggestions. (I haven't installed it so can't test it out) Did you have the journal in 1.9 and did you follow the correct procedures for upgrading to 2.0?

Thanks Mary for your help.

I will look into the tracker and other forum with the above.

As I have never used/installed it on 1.9 , upgrade does not apply.

Hi Mary,

I tried finding a solution and none of the tracker issues worked for me. So I was thinking of directly pasting:  the http://www.XXXXXX.co.uk/pluginfile.php/560/mod_label/intro/thumb_sunflowers.jpg

My question is how do I figure this out. I noticed in your above example: http://www.XXXXXXX.co.uk/draftfile.php/13/user/draft/724950045/thumb_sunflowers.jpg

you converted this link into the pluginfile.php link:- is that a random number or did you calculate something to generate this number:- 560

Hi Vijay. I'm sorry I can't help more but I'm not a technical person in that respect. The draftfile URL was the one I got when I was uploading the image - the plugin file was the image once it had been uploaded to moodle and displayed on the page and I clicked to get its properties - so I didn't calculate anything at all...
