We want to implement a site for using moodle, we are expecting 1000 online users at a time.
Is moodle can handle this ,if so what are the h/w requirements need to set up a server

This is the Installation problems forum. If you go to the "servers and performance" forum http://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?f=94 , you'll find plenty of performance discussions.
(Yes, of course it can cope with 1K users online, but you'll have to go to the right forum to find out how).
