Hi

I have just deleted an old academic years vle but am still getting apache log messages from Googles searchbot:

66.249.66.238 - - [06/Jun/2011:05:59:45 +0100] "GET /vle0809/calendar/set.php?var=showglobal&from=day&id=0&cal_d=8&cal_m=3&cal_y=1997 HTTP/1.1" 404 304 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)"
66.249.66.238 - - [06/Jun/2011:06:21:17 +0100] "GET /vle0809/calendar/view.php?view=day&cal_d=17&cal_m=02&cal_y=1996 HTTP/1.1" 404 305 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)"

Any idea why it should be trying to run set.php and view.php?

Does this constitute a security risk in any way?

Thanks very much

Clive

Hi,

the googlebot searches known URLs once in a while.

Since the Bot was on your site while Moodle was active it knows these URLs and trys to access them to search for new content.

Your server replies "404" --> not found

Theres no security risk with these Bot visits. They will stop in the future when google got the 404 error several times.
