Moodle 2 statistics?

Moodle 2 statistics?

Number of replies: 24

When I go to [ site admin > reports > statistics ] (in Moodle 2) I get the following message:

Sorry, there is no available data to display
More information about this error

Which takes me to a page that says this:

error/moodle/nostatstodisplay

Stats

This page can appear if you have not enabled statistics. To enable statistics, log into your Moodle as an administrator. Then, in the Site Administration menu, under Server --> Statistics ensure that they are enabled.

If you have enabled Statistics recently you should note that statistics are collected by a background task and take some time to become available. Try again later, but do note the time for statistics job to be run in the Site Administration page noted above.

Except, that there is no [ site admin > server > statistics ] in my moodle installation sad

It appears that the error message was taking me to documentation for 1.9?

How do I enable statistics in Moodle 2?

Regards,
Simon O

Right. In Moodle 2, it is in site admin > REPORTS > statistics

um... I'm not sure you read my post properly.  Especially the first line?

When I got to the page I only get :

Sorry, there is no available data to display
More information about this error

There is nothing anywhere else on the page about enabling statistics...

Apparently I did not. smile (As an alternative explanation, I can suggest that telling HOW you got there was unnecessary and distracting... wink )

Site administration > Advanced features > Enable statistics.

I have Moodle 2.0.2 (Build: 20110221). I have site statics enable as per the instruction above. The statistics have been enabled now for days, yet there are still no statics. I get same the message (see below). Any thoughts. I can find information regarding this issue with Moodle 1.9, but not for Moodle 2.0. Thanks in advance. ~Don

Hi,

Do you have a cron running ? Looks like this is the problem.

Yes, there is a cron running. I do not know how to check it for specific details on this issue.

Re: Moodle 2 statistics?

Has anyone come up with an answer on this issue? I can confirm that I have everything enabled for statistics, receive the same page when going to view the statistics report and if I turn on advance debugging I see.

Stack trace:
  • line 429 of /lib/setuplib.php: moodle_exception thrown
  • line 21 of /course/report/stats/report.php: call to print_error()
  • line 65 of /course/report/stats/index.php: call to require()

My cron output notes this in it...

...preventing stats to run, more than 4 hours since scheduled time.

I'm running Moodle 2.1.1+ (Build: 20110928)

Thoughts?

Aaron

I mucked around a little and set the time for stats to be for 5 minutes in the future.

I then ran a CRON and it said it had processed the stats, but I still get theSorry, there is no available data to display message.

This is the CRON output:

Actually that has fixed one of my servers, I can now look at stats for that server.

I'll have to see if it keeps processing the stats...

My problem is similar.  I had statistics running awhile ago.  Then I updated to Moodle 2.2.1 (Build: 20120109). I just went to view statistics and they are not there.  I too have checked setting, run the cron, and still no luck.  I am going to try this change to run statistics in 5 minutes.

Somehow, there seems to be some other kind of problem.  I know that statistics were working, because I had submitted a tracker item because of some code errors.  In tracker, I see the graphic that I uploaded showing statistics and the error.  The coders asked me to verify their fix.  I went to statistics, but could no longer find it.  Can't get it to work.

I will persist and see if I can get these to work.

5 minutes have passed and I ran cron again.  I see the following.  I do have automated backups disabled.  Might there be some connection now between backups and statistics?

Checking automated backup status...INACTIVE
...preventing stats to run, last execution was less than 20 hours ago.
Deleting old draft files... done.
Cron script completed correctly
Execution took 0.546713 seconds

When I try to access the statistics page I just get the error This webpage cannot be displayed. The stats and logs are collecting but I can't get a graphical display.

Any Ideas?

I'm also having this problem. Cron is running, statistics enabled, and the relevant feedback from cron is:

Checking automated backup status...INACTIVE
...preventing stats to run, more than 4 hours since scheduled time.

I'm in Moodle 2.3.4 (Build: 20130114).

Has anyone got a tip as to how to get stats running?

Thanks,

Eric

Inside  Site administration -> Server -> Statistics

make sure the run time is within 4 hours of when cron runs. I have mine set to run 10 minutes before cron runs. Therefore when cron executes it's well within the 4 hour window.

There's a lot of information on these forums with regards to stats problems.  I went through it all when I had problems, I narrowed mine down to a broken plugin stopping the cron from completing properly.

I'm not the biggest expert in the stats execution configuration for Moodle, but the thing that jumps out at me there is "Days to process" being set to 0.

Does this mean that 0 days will be processed?
