Can anyone tell me where to look to find the measurements for the front page features. I'm using some graphic designers for our front page and this is info they are asking for. Any ideas? thanks
That would depend on what theme you are using Liz.
Some themes are fixed width - but even then would depend on whether any side columns are used (or in Moodle2 whether the user themselves docks the side column content. You would probably find the widths then in one of the css files (such as pagelayout.css) which specific css file may also vary from theme to theme, including whether they are using a parent theme.
Other themes have fluid widths to adapt to the screen resolution where they are being used - these widths would probably then be expressed in percentages rather than fixed pixel widths.
Firebug - an add-on to Firefox is a very useful tool for investigating the css rules attached to any section of the page, such as the body, or each column and may help you find what you are looking for.

Thanks very much R.. This is most helpful.
Sounds like it would be best to choose a template design and get our designers to work within that framework, at least as a beginning point.
If the graphic designers are asking that, you should probably tell them thanks, but no thanks, and then go and find some graphic designers who understand the web.
Some users will probably come to your site on their mobile phone. Others on a laptop, and others on their huge desktop monitor.
