I have a gradebook that is calcuating 1246 as the course point total when it should be 500, in Moodle 1.9. I have the gradebook to Sum of total, with categories showing each category total (which are correct). I've tried to use the =SUM equation and that didn't work. At one point the instructor had locked assignments, but when I unlocked those that didn't work. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas to troubleshoot this?
Do you have the total category as Sum of Grades as well? If not, you may want to change to that and it should correctly add any changes that were made.

How many categories are there? Are you sure the points are correct? I often see teachers that put 100 instead of 10, etc.
i am interested in this topic.... I don't know how to attach units(as course weigth) and point to a course.

Aggregations: http://docs.moodle.org/en/Grade_categories ( One can set the aggregation method to Weighted Mean, and then he will be able to enter weights for your grade items)
