moodle forum allowing yahoo etc email?

This moodle forum does not allow Yahoo email addresses when registering. So I had to use my company email. I can see a reason for this, to avoid 'spam', but because I subscribe to forum discussions my company email inbox is flooded with forum messages, which is a problem when I travel and check email on a mobile phone or other mobile device.

For this reason I use my Yahoo email when subscribing to foirums and discussion groups - it lets me deal with direct work issues that require immediate attention on my company email, and look at discussions that are interesting but not urgent using the Yahoo email.

Unfortunately the decision in this forum to not allow Yahoo addresses means I am stuck with a flooded email inbox or have to unsubscrbe (which I don't really want to do, but will have to).

Wouldn't it be reasonable to allow Yahoo email addresses? I subscribe to a lot of specialised discussion groups and none disallow Yahoo addresses.

Although not a perfect solution, you can use a Gmail account here.

Even better, you can buy your own domain and use that for emails and never have to deal with this sort of thing again. In fact, you're lucky because your name is currently available (chrisbore.com). It's not free like Yahoo, but it's not expensive, either. You can register a domain at GoDaddy for $7-8 with coupon and hosting can be found for as little as $5 a month (e.g. Dreamhost.com).

Thank you. As it happens, my email address is also my name which is my domain (bores.com) so that does not get round the problem for me. But I have now made my gmail address the one I use here. I don't check that for forums usually but at least it will keep my own email inbox free.
